Walk 30 Minutes = Lose 15 Pounds

A recent study shows a significant correlation between exercise and weight loss. The American Medical Association followed 201 sedentary women for one year and studied whether walking longer or faster had a greater affect. The results showed that walking improved weight loss significantly but there was no correlation to women who walked faster or longer. Here were the results:

1) Walked less than 150 minutes/week = Weight loss 4.7%
2) Walked more than 150/ minues/week = Weight loss 9.5%
3) Walked more than 200 minutes/week = Weight loss of 13.9%

What can you do today?

* Start by taking the stairs. If you live on the 15th floor then start by walking up to the 5th floor and taking the elevator from there. Once you can easily walk up 5 floors then increase the amount of floors you walk up.

* PARK IN THE BACK OF THE PARKING LOT! Too often I see people fighting over parking spots close to the stores front door. This habit of laziness is detrimental to our health and we must constantly find ways to improve our quality of life.

* Walk 30 minutes a day. If you are currently not looking to lose weight then you must be exercise to keep your body healthy. As we discussed in previous blog posts, you may feel and look fine but your body could be growing a chronic disease inside. This is why it is imperative we constantly exercise and treat our body with respect.
