Many of my friends and family know my passion for health and chiropractic. They are constantly asking me questions about the dangers of a misaligned spine and how it relates to their health. I figured that if they are having so many questions on a poorly aligned spine, then the rest of the public has the same questions. For the next 5 weeks we are going to discuss what happens to your body when misalignments in the spine occur.
5 Issues With Misaligned Spine
1) Spinal Kinesiopathology
2) Neuropathophysiology
3) Myopathology
4) Histopathology
5) Pathophysiology
Do not worry about the words right now because over the next 5 weeks we will explain what each means.
SPINAL KINESIOPATHOLOGY
Spinal kinesiopathology is improper movement of the spine. Whether its improper lifting, car accidents, sports related injuries, poor sleeping habits, or sitting in front of a computer all day, each one of these events will cause physical trauma to our spine. The physical trauma leads to misalignments which leads to improper movement in the spine. Improper movement can restrict you from performing daily activities, getting full exercise, or decrease your overall energy by tightening muscles.
Turn your head to left without moving your shoulders. Now turn your head to the right without moving shoulders. Did you notice that one side felt restricted? It is not uncommon for people to turn their head to one side further but this is not normal. I have never been one to compare myself to what is common because then I would probably be on 10 different medications, overweight, and unhappy with myself. We must never compare ourselves to the general public and only focus on what is normal but not common. The restriction you felt in your neck is most likely caused from misaligned vertebrae. This is brilliant of our body.
Why is reduced motion brilliant?
Your body is aware that a joint is under stress and not properly aligned. Therefore it does not want to move the joint continuously while its out of alignment. This would only destroy our bodies even more. If you bought tires that were supposed to get 50,000 miles and you never aligned your car, what would happen? You may get 35,000 miles but you will never get 50,000. This is why it is critical to have a properly aligned spine so you can enjoy full range of motion, less restrictions, and abundant health.
In August 2009 when Cohen Family Wellness opens we will be offering corrective care plans as a way to restore your range of motion to normal and properly align your spine.
