Pick Up A Book

As someone who is constantly falling asleep at their desired bed time I decided to share some personal techniques that have helped me achieve my goal bed time. Each night my goal is to fall asleep by at least 10:30 PM. The techniquie I use to fall asleep quicker is turning off the TV and radio at 9:30 PM and then picking up a book to read for 1 hour. This works for me 95% of the time and the only way it would not is if the book is 100 pages and I know I can finish it in 1 night. This technique not only stimulates your mind for learning but it also relaxes your body shutting down your stress response. By shutting down the stress response you can slow down your blood pressure and heart rate to even magnify the quality of sleep you will achieve. A favorite quote I heard at a seminar is "The moment we stop learning is the moment we stop living".

Go out to your favorite bookstore or search at Amazon.com and look up a book that interests you. I am currently reading a phenomenal book about networking and the value it can add to your business. It is written by Keith Ferrazi and is called "Never Eat Alone".

Yes, reading before bed relaxes me too, but it also sometimes extends my bedtime as I often don't want to quit reading.
